There are several sedation options in our office Nitrous Oxide “Laughing Gas”, Oral Moderate Sedation, and IV Moderate Sedation.
Nitrous Oxide: We place a small nasal mask and we will adjust the gas until you are relaxed, but not asleep. You will feel fine after the treatment and you are able to drive yourself home. You do not need to go without food or drink prior to appointment.
Oral Moderate Sedation: We will check your blood pressure and monitor your breathing. A pill is dissolved under you tongue and you will become very relaxed, you may not remember any of the treatment. The desired effect takes about one (1) hour to achieve. So we will ask you to arrive one (1) hour prior to the treatment appointment.
- You must not eat or drink anything six (6) hours prior to the appointment.
- You must have a ride home.
IV Moderate Sedation: We will check your blood pressure and monitor your breathing for the duration of the appointment. We will place an IV and the medications will be given until the desired effect is achieved. Most people sleep thru this type of sedation and most don’t remember any of the treatment.
- You must not eat or drink anything six (6) hours prior to the appointment.
- You must have a ride home.
